Alcea rosea 'Queeny Purple'
Alcea Queeny Purple
Hollyhock
This award winner has the distinction of being the shortest in the Alcea rosea family and is the only pure purple Hollyhock available as a single color, rather than as a part of a mixture. Flowers prolifically.
Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:
Though their stalks are very strong, they may need to be staked if they are planted in a windy site. Hollyhocks prefer rich, moist, well-drained soil but can tolerate short periods of drought. They need full sun to really perform in the landscape.
Interesting Notes:
Hollyhocks can be grown under Black Walnut trees; they are tolerant of the toxic juglone that is emitted through the trees roots.
